Toe Nail Treatment

Nail Fungus or Onychomycosis refers to a fungal infection of the nail, nail bed, or nail plate. The nail may appear thickened, yellow, or cloudy in appearance. It can affect both fingernails and toenails contributing to pain, discomfort and weakened nail strength.

Understanding Hormone Imbalance

Hormones affect every aspect of your body, from physical development to feelings and even sexual attraction. They are chemical signals released into the bloodstream that carry information necessary for bodily processes like growth and reproduction.

Your body synthesizes more than 50 different hormones, some of which you may be familiar with (estrogen) and others probably not (DHEA). These different compounds work together to keep your body healthy.

Hormonal changes are normal in middle age, but they may also occur during other periods of life,if you experience a serious illness or get stressed out. Your hormones should be balanced so that your body and mind feel optimal at all times!

Hormone Therapy can greatly improve a patient’s health and well-being.

Symptoms of Hormone Imbalance

A hormonal imbalance often presents itself in similar ways, such as:

  • Mood swings, depression
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • Insomnia
  • Weight gain
  • Sexual dysfunction or decreased libido
  • Hot flashes
  • Thinning hair
  • Excess or abnormal hair growth
  • Prostate changes
  • Miscarriage
  • Fatigue
  • Urinary frequency
  • Night sweats
  • Bone loss
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Acne
  • Infertility

You can experience any of the above symptoms, or a combination of them. But these symptoms are also “nonspecific” meaning they could be related to many conditions and thus easy for doctors to dismiss.

Benefits of Hormone Therapy
Restores Energy & Vitality

Do you often feel tired? Hormones impact almost every function in the body including energy levels so when they’re out of balance it can make you feel sluggish or that you have low-energy.

Increased Ability to Focus

Low hormone levels can negatively affect your concentration. Hormone Therapy can result in improved memory and function of the hippocampus.

Protect Cognitive Functions

There’s substantial evidence that hormone therapy can lead to both improved cognitive function and enhanced memory for both women and men.

Improves Quality of Life

Hormone Therapy can improve a patient’s health, making them feel happier and more energetic.

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy or “HRT”

Treating hormone imbalance and endocrine disorders in women is one of our passions. We are very empathetic with the “internal chaos” one feels when their hormones are not properly balanced.

We have a diverse range of treatment options for each patient depending on the symptoms, the personal preferences of the patient, and her clinical experience. Treatments may range from diet changes, lifestyle modification, stress reduction, vitamins, herbs, homeopathy and of course, bioidentical hormones.

ESTROGEN THERAPY

Bioidentical Hormones and Perimenopause/Menopause

Oregon Natural Medicine strive to provide the most natural therapies possible to our patients. We know that often simple lifestyle changes and vitamins yield incredible results; we also know that sometimes the body wants more. Bio-identical hormone therapy can provide amazing results in women who are experiencing many peri/menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, loss of libido, painful intercourse, foggy thinking, headaches, and more).

We only use compounded bioidentical hormones. Each person’s body has its own unique balance of hormones and therefore should have its own combination of bio-identical hormones for an individualized prescription.

PROGESTERONE THERAPY

Bioidentical Hormones and Thyroid

Women are more commonly affected than men by thyroid disease. At Oregon Natural Medicine we treat hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Hyperthyroid and Graves Disease using Diet, Lifestyle Modification, Vitamins, Herbs, Homeopathy, and Bio-identical Hormones. Our goal is to get the root of the problem.

We often use hormone replacement therapy, though we try to get the body back into balance naturally overtime with the goal of not having to take life-long medications (unless absolutely indicated).

THYROID THERAPY

Bioidentical Hormones and Men’s Health

Dr. Reynolds has helped numerous men with symptoms of andropause (low libido, low energy, reduced muscle mass), and erectile and sexual dysfunction with diet modification, lifestyle changes, stress reduction, vitamins, herbs, homeopathy and hormone therapy (testosterone). Many men feel more energetic, and report having a happier, healthier sex life after starting testosterone therapy.

Dr. Reynolds utilizes traditional blood labs and occasionally saliva-hormone testing in evaluating each Man’s individualized hormone patterns and prescribes treatment as necessary.

What is Bioidentical Hormone Therapy?

Bioidentical hormones are precise duplicates of the body’s own hormones. Taking these hormones is adding something that the body already recognises and knows how to metabolise. Conversely, conventional HRT usually includes hormone-like drugs that are not identical in structure to the body’s own, such as conjugated equine oestrogens or synthetic progestins. As well as binding to hormone receptors, these hormone-like drugs may bind to other receptors, causing unwanted side effects.

How long do I stay on bioidentical hormones?

Circumstances may differ depending on age, symptoms and lifestyle factors. We will decide this issue with each patient individually.

Which symptoms maybe helped with this?

Treatment may help with the following symptoms:

Hot flushes
Mood disorders
Menstrual problems
Fatigue
Low libido
Muscle loss
Brain fog
Vaginal
Headaches
Joint aches
Hair loss
Erectile dysfunction
Insomnia

If you have a problem that is not on this list and wonder if we can help, please request an appointment.

When should I consider Bioidentical Hormone therapy?

In general, your body’s natural hormones begin to decline after your mid-20s, and hormone imbalance symptoms are frequently present by your mid-30s. Men and women often start replacing hormones between the age of 40 to 55. If you are experiencing symptoms of hormone imbalance, it is best not to wait.

What are the side effects associated with Bioidentical Hormones?

Because bioidentical hormones are structurally identical to the hormones your body produces naturally, they cause fewer side effects than conventional hormone replacement therapy.

Side effects of hormone replacement therapy occur when the dosage is too high for a patient. We monitor and evaluate each person’s response to hormones so that we can adjust dosages accordingly.
